Congratulations to freshman Alivia Strunk for her outstanding accomplishments in her equestrian competitions this year. She is a hard-worker and great competitor who has racked up many awards in her young career. From May to September she competes in the International Barrel Horse Association (IBRA) where she placed first in her division in barrels, pole bending and down and back. In addition and one of her biggest accomplishments to date was performing in her first pro rodeo competition in August – the Big Horn Rodeo. Alivia was the only competitor under the age of 18 and finished ninth out of 48 pro rodeo women in the barrels competition. Most recently, Alivia participated in the Tri-State Rodeo Association and is anxiously awaiting the final results of that competition.

Alivia, a member of the BHS FFA program, has also been a member of 4H (Fremont/Sandusky County) the past five years where she has garnered success as well. This year alone she showed three horses and earned two grand champion and one reserve champion designations. She also earned 31 other placings in various classes during fair week and qualified for the Ohio State Fair. At the state fair she competed and earned 5th out of 87 participants and 8th out of 101, respectively. Her success earned her enough cumulative points to be recognized at the 4H banquet in November as “High Point Junior Contestor”, “High Point Draft” and “High Point Junior Overall”. Quite the accomplishments, to say the least.

As you can see from some of her competition pictures, Alivia is quite the diverse rider who excels in western, hunt seat, saddle seat, draft, showmanship, trail, reining and contesting. We wish nothing but the best and continued success for Alivia and she continues to dedicate herself to her passion and works to become an “Equine Queen”. Great job, Alivia!
