Combined Marching Bands Performance

On Monday, October 14, 2019, the Bellevue High School Marching Band and the Tiffin Columbian Marchin Bands, totaling over 280 students joined together to practice for the Friday night football game where they should share the pregame and halftime show together. Both Bellevue’s Chris Meadows and Tiffin’s Mike Meadows agree to join the bands for one spectacular show every 3 years. Tiffin Meadows stated, “It’s even more exciting than Halley’s comet because I reiterate it’s awesome to share the field with a great band. There is a lot of excitement and we are definitely excited to host this event for our wonderful crowd.”

On that Monday practice, Bellevue Meadows shared, “It’s awesome to hear that many people play and I think the best summation to that is hearing an echo 5 seconds after we’re done playing. It sounds like another band across town.” Friday was buzzing with excitement as the announcer stated that for the night the stadium would be called The Frost-Kalnow & Meadows’ stadium as the bands joined together to perform the national anthem during pregame. Later that night, after performing several bleacher features together, halftime was upon the bands. The Bellevue High School Marching Band began by performing “867-5309/Jenny,” followed Tiffin High School Marching Band performing their song, As they finished their number, then the bands joined together on the field to play “Sweet Child of Mine”, “I Don’t Want to Stop,” and “Fat Bottomed Girls.” To finish the performance, both bands played “Funky Town” together on the sideline.

Following this combined performance Bellevue High School posted on their Facebook account: “Impressive halftime show by @BHSRedmenBand, Color Guard & TCMB! 280 total members from two schools combining for a spectacular performance! A Great tradition between for two amazing bands!” (Bellevue High School, Facebook page, Oct. 18, 2019).

With a stunning show like that in the books, both bands and directors are all looking forward to the next combined halftime show. Until then, both Bellevue and Tiffin will continue to be the amazing and hard-working bands they are. Watch out 2023!

Welcome back!

It’s time to meet the new faces of the Bellevue High School Blog, which is written and published by the Real World Communications elective. Your writers this year include Seniors Megan Batey, Jordan Engelhart, Jasmine Hernandez, Alex Miller, Brooke Ramey, Paley Slone, Brooke Whaley, and Junior Grace Booze.

If you followed along with the blog last year, we tried to spotlight students and student-led extracurricular activities. Our hope this year is to spotlight even more students and other student-led extracurricular activities and events within our building. If you know of any student(s) who deserve to be highlighted, please email Mrs. Mercer.

As this new school year has started, the faces behind 1826 Photographic from Sandusky, Ohio visited our class. Jamie Speer and Lindsey Lemon shared their insight behind running professional social media accounts and a blog with our class. They shared how the algorithms work with Instagram, how they determine when and what content to post, who their target audience is, and how they promote themselves. Jamie and Lindsey also shared what they studied in college and how they gained experience in the photography and social media fields. Their insights and advice will certainly be a benefit to the class!

Stay tuned for our future posts!
